How to Make a Proper Leaf Material?

Just wondering how to make a good looking leaf material? I am not understanding how to get the masked leaf material to have translucency.

If anyone else has any advice for setting up trees in UE4 let me know here.


Hey Baldinoboy -

If I am understanding your question correctly you will want to use a Masked Shader Model but you will want to set it to subsurface in the lighting model. You can then use the subsurface color to dictate the light’s color as it passes through the leaf. Here is brief example of a leaf material (fall colors):
