How to implement gravitational lensing, using fresnel node in material

Hi, the closest to a simple fresnel-based approach to gravitational lensing that I could find, is this:

It’s copied from here and it is 10 years old. I am not able to reproduce the result but the approach looks alright.

Could it be that the output of the fresnel node has changed or something? I am lacking the experience to tell what changes need to be applied to bring this code up to date.
