How to get more predictable results using Vector Fields?

Is there a certain workflow that helps getting very specific results using vector fields? For example if I want to get a vortex type of effect, or just a specific movement in my GPU particles?

I noticed that when I try to make up own vector fields, the results seem very random and hard to predict. I find it really difficult to come to any meaningful result, most of what I create ends up just being noise.

Does anyone have some tips? :slight_smile:
