How to create vehicle trails/tracks?

tldr: What is the way to go in order to create/spawn vehicle trails on a landscape material? Ideally with the possibility to create different tracks on different surfaces?

I thought there would be a clear and perfect solution, but the longer I look into the matter, the more different versions I find (Deformation, Ribbons, soul coasters (?)…). The idea would be to not to deform the landscape itself and to have the trails/tracks for as long as possible. It would be great if there was a possibility to adjust the trails/tracks during gameplay according to the weigh and velocity of the vehicle.
I assume I simply missed the correct search term to go for, so any help or link to a suitable tutorial would be very much appreciated!

I think you can use “Decals” .

Same logic, it may use for wheels spawn decals at landscape while braking etc.
