How to convert a Starter Content material to a World Aligned version?

Hey everybody.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m near completely inept when it comes to materials. I can create basic colors, emissives, and sadly, that’s close to being it.

I’ve gone through the process of converting a basic material into a world aligned variation but there’s a material in the Starter Content (M_Brick_Clay_Old) that I need to get a world aligned version of and I don’t even know where to begin.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Nothing to it. Say you start with a default material:

To make it world aligned:

  1. Disconnect the texture, right click on it and choose ‘convert to texture object’

  2. Right click in the back ground and find ‘world aligned texture’ and connect them up like:

What you showed there is what I’ve been able to do with basic materials; but the one I’m trying to convert is more complex, which has me completely lost.

How would you tackle changing this one over?

It would be nice to be able to drop the worldalignment in at the last moment, but I don’t think that’s possible.

I think you have to convert all the textures to 2D and put the world alighed node in at that point…
