How stable is the ChaosCaching plugin? Can/should it be used in production?

We’re using the ChaosCaching plugin extensively to “bake” certain chaos destruction sequences, but the plugins is marked as Experimental.

Is it going out of Experimental and into beta any time soon? Are there maybe plans to introduce any breaking changes to the plugin in the near future?

In general, just how bad is using this plugin in production? Are there other team that are or have used it? Are there any significant known issues, especially on different platforms (We’re mostly interested in PS5 and XSX)?

I know at times our plugins can remain in ‘Experimental’ state even when they in a good state. Let me reach out to the dev side and confirm whether this is still considered experimental and if there are any platform issues we are aware of.

Hi Alexey,

The quick answer is that you can use it, but that there are UX and workflow issues in it which can make development less than ideal. 5.7 will add a number of improvements, but this is unlikely to be moved out of experimental for a couple of releases at least.

There are other studio’s who are looking to use it, but their use cases may differ from yours.
