How many polys/tris for a vehicle is recommended?

Hi all,

Looking to do a hobby project where I will create a small firefighter game for myself to have fun in learning all about development.

Looking at purchasing a fire engine model for the project to use in UE5. My plans are for the player to be able to drive the fire engine, the fire engine will be in the scene alot, maybe not always but always close to the player.

How many polys or tris are recommended for this scope?

Looking at a few models and they can get it down to 100k polys, or some even 50-60k polys.

there’s no recommendation really. depends on your artstyle and how you want it to look like and how good your hardware is to render it. you might aswell try to model it yourself. more hobby to be had. tbh :slight_smile:

I’d be able to run it fine I guess? I have an RTX 3060 and a i5-12400f. I don’t care about interiors of the vehicle, maybe just the outside shape, and certain parts can be textured?
