How has 4.7 improved VR support?

I don’t have time to test it out :(.

Is the preview useful?

Any noticeable changes in performance?

Well, it’s no longer a preview as of this morning. It’s the actual release.

Unfortunately, its performance has been abysmal for me, regardless of VR. I copied and converted my current project, and there is a ~20 fps drop in framerate in a non-VR regular game and when the Oculus is on. Using 0.4.4 Oculus runtime.

I love the new VR preview function. Saves me a lot of time.
Oculus SDK 0.4.4 is also giving me a lot better FOV because Oculus removed the annoying vignette effect.
Haven’t looked into performance yet.

A 20 fps drop when going into stereo rendering isn’t actually very bad at all.

No, I meant a 20 fps drop from 4.6 stereo to 4.7 stereo as well as non-stereo to non-stereo. Not from non-stereo to stereo.

But I would like to revise this statement. When copying my project to 4.7, it somehow started treating my stationary directional light as dynamic and was cutting my performance drastically. Rebuilding lighting fixed that and now my frame rate is basically the same betweeen 4.6 and 4.7 So far 4.6 is good enough and 4.7 is giving me a reflection problem, so I’m sticking with 4.6 for the moment.
