How do you create flipbook textures for clouds?

Working my way through Ryan Brucks’ posts on volumetric clouds. I"m at the point where I can render a cloud from a flipbook style texture. To create a new shape of cloud I’ll need to make a new texture. If I was able to render a cloud in Maya how do you go about slicing that up into a flipbook texture?
