How do I transfer scale animations in an IK Rig Retargeter

I am transferring animations from one rig to another using the IK Rig and IK Retargeter. While I am mostly satisfied with how the standard animations have been done, the originals have some non-uniform scaling on the bones for Squash/Stretch animations which are not being transferred. Is it possible to transfer the scaling animations from the original to the new? I realize I would probably need a one-to-one recreation of the skeleton but I am stumped as to what I would need to set to get what I want. I am just using the IK Rig and do not have any IK Goals currently.

If you need additional information, please repond with what you need

In the video, the new skeleton was made with Advanced Skeleton, I did not work on the original so I don’t know if they used an original rig or some auto tool.

Steps to Reproduce

This is a IK Retargeter that involves two different rigs with the original having non-uniform scaling on some of the bones.

Load SourceSkeleton

Load TargetSkeleton

Create IK Rig for SourceSkeleton. Create IK Chains for SourceSkeleton’s limbs, neck and spine.

Create IK Rig for TargetSkeleton. Create IK Chains for TargetSkeleton’s limbs, neck and spine.

Create IK Retargeter. Load SourceSkeleton into source. Load TargetSkeleton into Target.

In Chain Mapping, match Target Chain to Source Chain.

Try to figure out how to get scale animations to match

Hi, at the moment, support for scale with IK Retargeting is quite limited, unfortunately. The retargeter will strip scale out of the source transforms, and instead, stores the translation of the bones, which can then be applied to the target mesh. So that means if you’re just scaling down the bone, you can replicate the scale behaviour with translation on the child bone. Here’s where you can set the translation mode for your chains in the retarget asset:

The dev team know that this is something that needs to be addressed with the retargeter, but I’ve added a feature request ticket anyway to make sure that it’s tracked.
