How do I make a decal projecting on a black and white textured surface DARKEN BLEND behind the black color values?

So from the image here. As you can see i have a color decal that I want to appear behind the black ink lines. How might I go about this?

I thought I had used the DARKEN BLEND node but as you can see it still colours the black ink.
