Hey, noob question, but how does one blend materials for painting on a landscape? I know how to do it with textures, but what if (for example) I have a “forest floor” texture and a “grass” texture, both with cavities, specularity, and other attributes that can’t be on just a texture? It seems like there would be a way to do this. Thanks.
The only thing you can do with landscape is make a landscape material. That material has various ways of blending textures ( and normals, heighmaps etc ). You can’t apply more than one material to the landscape.
Here’s an indepth look at how to make a good landscape material:
Thanks, so how then would you recommend going about painting/distributing multiple materials across a landscape? Do you think that I would be better off just using different textures and not having the advantages of a material?
What I’m saying is, that vid is how you do it. You can’t paint more than one material on the landscape. That’s why you have a special kind of material for landscapes.
