Hello,
I’m trying to create a pre-rendered video in Unreal and I’m having trouble with the eyelashes on my metahuman character disappearing when the camera is far away from them. The “disappearing” also seems to have a lot to do with which direction the metahuman is looking in, but I can’t see any reason why this would be. The thickness of the eyelashes seems to change depending on the direction the character is facing, but in quite an erratic way.
My main camera is far away from the character, but zoomed in, because I need my scene to look quite flat with minimal perspective. Things look good when I zoom in to frame just the eyes, but if I get the whole character in the frame, the eyelashes start to fade out when the character turns its head.
I feel like what I’m looking for is a way to disable lods on the groom asset, but everything I’ve tried looks bad. I’ve unchecked the various options in the Blueprint under “groom group desc”, because they seemed to be duplicates of the settings in the groom asset browser, which are the ones I’m now mostly looking at now. I’ve deleted all but one of the LODs, but it’s obvious that distance is still affecting the eyelashes.
I’ve tried including the eyelashes, metahuman face mesh, etc in the HLOD system, and also excluding them from HLOD.
Is there anything else I should look at?
