how can i fix this shadow ghosting effect?

What is this ghostly shadow? How can I remove it?

I found the cause of the rightward shift due to ‘AspectRatio’, but why does this happen? That is the first question. The second question is, a trailing effect still remains regardless of any AA.

This is the video after I disabled AspectRatio. You can see that shadow ghosting is present even with AA None anti-aliasing. But I need AspectRatio and need to eliminate this shadow play / shadow trailing.

Only way to completely fix this is to turn off Lumen (and possibly also DFAO). It can be reduced by relying more heavily on direct lighting in areas where it is a significant problem.

You can go through the cvars in this guide: Temporal Quality Guide | Tutorial

But for virtually all of them you will be trading ghosting for noise, which might be acceptable outdoors but you’re going to hate it in any interior scene.

If you can wait, and Epic continues to work on their radiance field gather option for Lumen then you’ll be able to use that in 5.8 (maybe) which does not have this problem.

I don’t use Lumen and the shadows are set to Shadow Maps, not Virtual Shadow Maps

Then, like I said, turn off DFAO
