How big is Ray-tracing? Worth it to buy a pc next to the Imac?
I know: not an easy answer possible.
And offcourse I did a search for examples.. but can not “always” feel the big difference ..
Doing renders with Sketchup and Twinmotion now for our small-business, with good results I think, semi-pro, but want to level up. Doing mostly outside architecture/garden/but also inside designs)
The Imac is doing it with an acceptable speed, but don’t know exact what I am missing?
Actually I am a bit in a hurry to buy a pc now, so I can render my current project with it. (Keep the rest of my work on the Imac’s)
Want to spend now a (2nd hand) +_1900 euro for a : Ryzen 7 5800, 3080 gpu, 32Gb, 1tb Ssd ?
Any extra advise for that?
Hello ,
Thank you for posting your question in the community and hope other users would be able to provide feedback but I recommend posting this on the Facebook group for more of an audience.
Here is the link where you post in the Facebook community:

If you search in the group some have done some benchmark tests that could help you decision process. Here is the post I was referencing:

You should reference our high-end requirements here for PC or Mac and look at the benchmarks for the CPU and GPU:

Here are the Path Tracer requirements:

From a use perspective the Mac version does not support VR, and at this time the 3D Connexion, and Path Tracing are not compatible with Twinmotion for Macs. Getting a PC will allow you to use all the features and those machines can be upgraded more easily, especially when it comes to the RAM and GPU which are the 2 most important hardware elements after the CPU and hard-drive. Having a Mac and a PC is a great solution as this gives you flexibility to render on the PC and keep working on your Mac while it processes.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
