Holding shift while trying to move an object in UEFN has mouse movement backwards

Summary

If you try to move an item in the scene while holding shift, the object moves the opposite way from which you move the mouse.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Other

Steps to Reproduce

Select an item, hold shift and move the object on an axis

Expected Result

the item should move the same direction I move my mouse

Observed Result

item moves the opposite direction

Platform(s)

PC

I’m also encountering this issue. After a bit of experimenting, this is what I found when using Local Space Coordinates:

If the actor has any rotation on the Up axis, movement (while holding the shift key) on the Left and Forward axes is incorrect.

If the actor has any rotation on the Forward axis, movement (while holding the shift key) on the Left and Up axes is incorrect.

It seems to work correctly when the actor has no rotation, rotation only on the Left axis, or when using World Space Coordinates

FORT-920716 has been created and its status is ‘Unconfirmed’. This is now in a queue to be reproduced and confirmed.

Getting the team to take a look.

@GraemeBB the team is having a hard time getting a repro here, could you get us a video?

I’m not sure how to do video of both my mouse and screen, but this is a screenshot of my UI in UEFN, maybe there’s a clue in there?

It’s super easy to repro as noted by the other user in this thread, just put it in local space coordinates and not world space coordinates and it happens immediately

I got you bro :stuck_out_tongue:

@flak

Initial space is global and as you can see on the on screen keyboard im holding shift and all works

Then change to local and blue and red axis dnt work yellow seems to work

Thanks all!

The last 2 UEFN updates did not address this issue. Is this still being investigated?

Please see this video to verify. The default blank project with a default cube shape, to rule out any import errors. All transforms in local space.

Exactly the same for me, it drives me nuts and is so timewasting

Moving an Object and then move the camera while before you could both at the same time IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION :exploding_head:

I looked up all the settings because i thaught maybe a setting is changed or so but sadly not, its just how it is :frowning:

Hope that issue is fixed soon
Thanks

Does this still have a status of ‘Unconfirmed’ ? The bug is still present in v36.20.

Still an issue in 37.00

Crazy man 2 months later. This is the issue with this system.

They need to rethink the whole bug processes for sure

Its like getting a new car there been an issue with the radio and you have to wait months for it to be fixed.

This bug is still present in v37.50

In case it is helpful, here are steps to reliably reproduce this bug:

  1. Set the coordinate system to “Local Space Coordinates”
  2. Place an actor in the scene
  3. Apply rotation of 75 degrees on the Up axis
  4. Hold shift while dragging the red Left axis arrow of the widget
  5. The actor will move in a strait line but not along any of the axes and will not move in the direction of the mouse movement

This linked reply has more general information on when movement is correct or incorrect based on which axes have rotation and which axis you’re attempting to move an object along that I still find to be true.

This seems to have been fixed in v38.00 - I haven’t encountered any issues since then.
