High Res Screenshot white flash/white spots

Hi guys!In my viewport,in realtime,everything looks fine!

But when I’m taking highres screenshot, there’s some white spot, white flash and I don’t know why…I built the lighting and everything else so…I need help!

Thanks

Oh and it also looks brighter in the screenshot…

I get artifacts on high res screens too.
Usually some gradients on the the image. Or even terrible noise if SSR is set to 100% quality.
And by high res I mean 1920x1080 I don’t really know what to do to fix these kind of problems that only appear when taking a screen.

Best solution is to increase the screen percentage (r.screenpercentage xxx) to something like 150-200 and use print screen on your keyboard. This method works well but it’s limited to your monitor’s resolution. Usually 1920x1080!!!

This is a known issue with the high res screen command. Probably it helps when you render an image with matinee

The problem looks to be that there are materials with a roughness of actually 0 or close to it. temporal AA will filter out the firefly sparkles that this causes but highresshot has no tempAA. In general most of these artifacts go away when you make the min roughness more like 0.1 or 0.2. you may also be able to use the “minimum roughness” properties on your lights.

I’m gettin a bit of a RE/gears vibe here

And how can I render an image with matinee? :open_mouth:

Ahhhh so that’s why our screenshots never look as good? finally an answer!

Can we know if tempAA is active when exporting a matinee frame by frame? bmp, jpg, etc because it appears to have the same issues as Highresshot!

Is it something that could be added in the future?

**TL;DR: Best render results are TXAA with some form of Super Sampling (Screen Percentage 150%) for PrintScreen or Shadowplay, or Matinee frame-by-frame 4K.

Yeah everyone DO NOT use HighResScreenshot, use 's methods or Matinee.

TXAA definitely works in Matinee, make sure your TXAA is set in the PPV that has the highest priority and that it is not overidden by other Matinee events and PPV is set to Unbound.

and my render methods described in the thread here:

Add a Matinee actor, add camera, move camera to position, in Matinee window click “Movie” in toolbar to render frame-by-frame at 4K, 2K, 1080p, etc. Just a few frames is enough if you’re not making a video. Or, use 's method described in the thread above.

TAA requires multiple frames to work properly (it’s a time-based approach) - so yeah, the single-screenshot won’t filter out those super-high reflectivity areas.
