Well you’ve just made my point, I Have 3 jobs just to keep a roof over my head and no one else to rely on. What do you know about the issues including delivery issues on epics end that have delayed these projects. Dont get an attitude with me just for pointing out good quality hard work deserve a good return or what’s the point in the first place.
Any serious game is most likely going to have to decide what is best for them and can they afford a better quality pack, by the looks of the other wip terrain packs I think your are far superior and plug and play ready right out of the gate. A lot of us would rather pay more and buy something ready to use in game at the quality level that gamers are going to expect when they see your game is being built on UE4, and that is your pack.
That doesn’t mean other developers should give up either, there will be people on super tight budgets and also just need quick art for a prototype so having different quality levels, and different price ranges doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be taking all the sales, i think having 4 different terrain packs on the market all different quality and price options provides the community with options that will fit everyone’s needs.
Competition will always be there, people under cutting you will always be there, the mighty green dollar turns people into animals that’s life. But just know people serious about the development of their game will have to determine whats best low cost low quality that needs additional work, or little more in costs for game ready plug and play quality.
I tend to defend a little bit.
He put a lot of effort into his pack, and while I think it is not justified, he fears that the ‘fast food’ pack that I am preparing will steal customers.
I am readily calling my stuff the cheap fast food pack, because quite honestly, I think if releases his pack just the way he planned for the price he planned, it will swim on top.
The quality and content is just unrivalled, and will reflect in the sales.
I would recommend to just go on as planned and ignore any other packs arising. Just keep on going. The product to be released has no competition to fear, that’s how good it is.
I am doing my terrains as part of a bigger hobby project and terrains are just on puzzle piece amongst many many. I am not specifically designing them to sell a pack. They are just a by-product.
I work at a AAA company and the money I would make would not make any difference. Therefore I honestly say, if pack fulfills my need, and it really really looks that way, I might just drop the ball on my own terrain creation and never publish my pack because I would have my shortcut.
Bottomline for me is, I would like to try some terrains in my project. Either a pack on marketplace does it, or I have to do them myself over time. When I do them myself, I could as well throw them on the market place.
I think is like a general thing. Once a good asset is released, people do not have to do the asset themselves anymore, and thus less new assets are created by people, that could eventually be sold on the marketplace. I think they call that a saturated market in economics.
Wow … Please can we keep these topics … ummmm … on topic.
Wow Just watched great promo from Epic. Mind Blown, Cant wait to get my hands on some of these materials. Would just like to say to the Epic team GREAT JOB. The line between realtime and offline just got a little closer
Awesome. Cheers
You guys are battling over terrain assets like those were real land or something o.O
What you talking Crazy about? Let me make very clear as will be the last time i say it. I was never any part of a fight, I made two comments that were fair and just to point out others had been working on such things for far longer and making false claims wasn’t cool, I NEVER WAS TO BLAME OR TOOK PART IN ANY OF THAT NONSENSE.
Now can people stop trying to put the boot into me for no good reason other than clearly some people like a trip on a bandwagon.
Cheers
guys, please keep the discussion/thread on topic, that being landscape pack.
thanks
Hi ,
I love your landscapes. I’ll be honest, I found thread after seeing the other landscape threads on the marketplace section but your pack looks like the one I’m after. The fact your initial release was going to be 50gb tells me the quality really is high, so keep at it! I want to see on the marketplace!
Have you not considered selling individual maps? I’d happily pay $10 - $15 for one high quality map and I’m sure hundreds of others would do the same. If anything it will help promote these packs if people love the one map you already released.
Just a thought anyway!
Cheers,
Korus.
@ Can I buy the terrains directly from you? I have a project that these terrains would be perfect for and you will save me time
Hey,
,
I would be also interested in buying the terrains any time frame when it will show up in the Marketplace? Or any other way to buy these terrains? I’m also in need of custom terrains please pm me if you are up for it.
Great work.
After a very long Period, Finally have started to finalise things. Reworked all the terrains to be 4.8 NEW terrain tools ready. Now just testing out the website to be used as support and development page for the 4 games ive been working on.
Help me out and check out www.badlamagames.com and give me feedback, it’s not complete just a work in progress test so keep that in mind and be gentle. Cheers J
The grammar and spelling on your site is so bad (I mean, it is really bad) it’s hard to take seriously. I would opt for nothing at all versus having that on your site. Just my two cents.
What is all the drama here?
I could care less as long as there is good content to be had.
Also give examples not just “The grammar and spelling on your site is so bad”.
If that is the case - Give examples via PM. My 2 cents.
Edit: Any news on the terrain packs and tutorial videos going up?

Keep up the good work! You’re almost there, I can promise you will get a huge relief after releasing your first pack and things will go smoother for the next ones.
Don’t worry too much about what others are doing, people will see (most already do see) the value in pack and will buy it for the price you mentioned.
As far as the site, use a lot more images and less text. You are selling art assets and developers tend to not like to read as much as seeing things visually. Always keep in mind customers want to see the “end product” rather than read a description of what you’re selling.
Kill the forums section for now. You have too much on your plate as is with 1 pack WIP and 3 more that you plan to release.
You seem to love to update things as you go so maybe adding a blog section for others to come see your WIP. There’s no harm writing a post here and using the same content for your blog… there may be others who don’t come on forum.
Hope helps! and please send me a PM if you got any questions
That looks really good!
Is there a release date?
You seem to be on it for quite a long time now, and also busy with other things.
Maybe it is a good idea to not stretch that thin. Now you a retuning for 4.8, but with progress that slow, 4.9 will hit the user base and then it is ground hog day again.
Looking forward to buy it!
(if it ever gets released in life
the .pdf links in the main post are not working
You have done some massive work there and it looks like the community is thinking you priced it to low. I have just joined the community so I did not look yet to see if it is in the market place yet. I would suggest you listen to your customer and also do some research on the price level and compared it to other packages. Clearly kind of commitment to quality and quantity should have it’s reward and be priced fairly.
Had a spare day so finishing some stuff of for the packs. Keep in mind the video is slow because im recording the screen in software and running in editor, And my little machine i5 2.66 Ghz , 4 gb ddr3 dual channel ram and AMD HD 5850 graphics card are FAR below minimum specs. It runs ok on my machine without video capture so should run like a bolt of lightning on others machines.
was about 6-7 days back, the shaders are far better now, no tiling shows and blending of terrain layers is far better.
