Help with modelling mode and displacement UE5

Hi, I am trying to add displacement to basic objects in U5 and am having trouble doing it.

I am using the plugin of Modeling Tools Editor Mode and I am in modelling mode, I have the object selected, either a cube or plane and then I go to deform and displacement and apply my displacement map.

I have attached a screenshot for reference.

I then go to accept the displacement settings and the object returns to its original state and a message pops up stating ‘Cannot modify built-in engine asset’

I have attached another screenshot of that.

Can anybody please explain why this is happening and how to overcome it?

Seems like you are trying to edit the built in Editor Cube and Plane. Try copy/pasting these assets into your own content folder and edit the copies. That should work.

I find it funny how so much can be learnt on your own or via online tutorials and then the smallest thing can be the most annoying roadblock.

If you are in modeling mode you should use the basic shapes from the Shapes Tab. They offer a lot more options and controls.
