Help with large landscaping

)So obviously I am doing things wrong here.
I am trying to understand how to create large landscaping using real-time lighting or baked lighting.
I read some tip from this post, (Exterior Light Studies - Architectural and Design Visualization - Unreal Engine Forums ) that has incredible good looking landscaping but I am not even close to anything decent.
I am using the foliage tool, all threes are set to static but they have Cast Dynamic Shadows on and disable Static shadows.
any input is appreciated.
