Help - Got some unusual shadowing because of my normal map(?)


This disappears without my normal map applied but with it I get some strange shadowing on this object which is odd because this hasn’t happened with any of my other assets. I thought it was because of the sharp edges so i split them but that did nothing. Any help is very appreciated

Does it look right when you view it in your 3d program? What happens when you flip the green channel in the texture editor (double click on the normal map - details panel) + have you set the mode of the node to “normal”? :slight_smile:

Ha that did it! Flipping the green channel. Thankyou very much! I wonder why I had to do that for this particular texture and nothing else…

Golden Rule for Unreal Normal maps:

Red should highlight from the RIGHT
Green should highlight from the BOTTOM
