I previously had version 4.23.1 installed and working fine no issues (i cant remember what GPU drivers i had installed at this time) a few months ago i suffered a data loss (project backed up elsewhere) which meant i lost my engine installs.
I thought i would take a break for a while but recently decided to jump back in.
I noticed engine version 4.25.1 was now available so i thought i would give that a little play with first, opened up a new project and started to have a play around but i noticed the entire engine screen (not just the viewport) is flashing/flickering white. its a random flash sometimes it will do it constant other times there can be several seconds between flashes. i know this is only an engine issue as it doesn’t do it with any other program. For example i can have my web browser open (not full screened) and on top of my engine window which doesn’t flash but behind it i can still see the engine window flashing.
I also don’t get the issue within any games, GTA 5, watchdogs, Tomb raider, Far cry 5 etc… all work fine the issue does seem solely on the engine window.
I also installed engine version 4.23 again and loaded up my backed up project from previous and that engine version is now also doing the same. I have tried to look for fixes but they all seem to relate to flickering within the viewport only.
Not really sure what to try any help would be greatly appreciated as its very annoying.

Any extreme overclocks? Riva tuner, rainmeter, wallpaper engine?
What’s up with 24GB Ram? Is this an 1 extra 8 GB stick or 2x4? Any good reason for that seeing that 3600 does not support more than 2 channels? You may value capacity over performance but non-dual channel setups will degrade performance in most (all?) cases, and quite substantially depending on task at hand.
In case you run out of ideas, do consider testing it in a dual channel configuration only and see if the issue persists.
I am 100% certain it’s not a RAM issue as it was working fine before with my previous install with the same hardware. Ram is also very unlikely to affect graphics. my thought is it’s either an engine setting that’s defaulted to a different setting during this install, a setting within the nvidia control panel or the engine not being compatible with the latest nvidia drivers. Maybe i’ll try rolling back my drivers a few steps see if that helps.
For a tl;dr have a look at the charts at the bottom. SC vs DC - single vs dual channel. If you’re running 3 sticks or RAM for some reason, you’re in a single channel mode and your memory is running at half speed.
Due to the way Infinity Fabric works on Ryzen, you might be seeing poor frame pacing. Probably not related to the issue at hand, though.
I have finally solved the issue, i rolled back my drivers which did nothing (updated again afterwards), i was about to scream at the computer then thought actually there is one other thing that has changed in my set up which i honestly didn’t think would be the issue but i thought i would try it out anyway to see what happens.
I have a new screen that has HDR. I turned the HDR off within windows loaded up the engine and no more flashing. been around 30 minutes now and not a single flash. So anyone with a similar issue with an HDR screen i would suggest turning it off and seeing if it fixes it for you.
I would have thought the engine would support HDR given its been around a while now, ill probably send in a bug report maybe it can be fixed as it will bug me having to keep turning it off and on but its a fix for now. Thank you for the help though any idea is always a good idea
