Hello all. I recently updated to Twinmotion 2023.1 Preview 2 and I am facing this "moiré" issue only when I use the path trace option to render any of my projects.

I tried also other materials but I still get the same problem. I am using a RTX 3080 GPU with 12 GB of RAM in case anybody wonders, if there is an issue with the card.

Please, let me know your thoughts or any solutions. I am attaching an image also for everybody to see. Thank you all.

Hi ,

This type of issue is usually due to your imported model being very far from the origin in Twinmotion, which causes accuracy issues with geometry and materials.

Try checking the coordinates for the model in Twinmotion, if they are very far from the origin point, you will need to move the model closer to the origin in the original design program it was imported from, then re-import the model into Twinmotion, which should fix the issue.

Best,

Raghib

I'm curious to know how far is "very far". The draft renders below were taken from inside the same model which was built in cad 150m away from x,y,z = 0,0,0. The first one renders fine, while the second one has the same vertical stripe artifacts as seen in the above post.

Thanks Raghib, submitting bug report now.

In case this helps - some history on the model;

  1. Exported from RVT to DWG
  2. Exported from DWG to DGN in Microstation. All RVT materials removed.
  3. A few materials applied in Microstation.
  4. Exported from DGN to FBX in Microstation (stroke tolerance of 0.001m)
  5. FBX imported into TM 2023.1 Preview 2. A few materials tweaked in TM.

Hello all and thank you for your answers.

I have submitted a bug report since the issue doesn't seem to be the origin point of the model.

I've had the same issues as well, although in older versions of TM moving the model to it's 0 value worked I'm also experiencing this issue within the newer updates, annoyingly the only way I've been able to 'fix' this issue is by remodelling the entire scene in 3Ds Max with new geometry, not ideal but it's the only fix I've found so far

I have the same issue. New scene with 3ds max file import. Right in the centre of the origin. No materials applied.

The problem is not associated to a PC or a Graphic Card. Tested on 5 different PCs.

It seems that problem in only in 2023 version and related to the camera (view) position. The problem become denser closer to the object.Path tracer

Hi ,

Very far is usually at distances greater than 2000 units from the origin. Models within 150m of the origin shouldn't encounter this issue.

In that case, if you could submit a bug report here and share a copy of your file packaged using the Resource Collector (Edit menu > Resource Collector > Compress files), the support team can investigate this and figure out what might be causing the problem.

Best,

Raghib
