Hello. How i can boost my material for better height effect? My material dont have normal or height effect. I watched this tutorial and i do this same, but i cant do this like this guy. Maybe my height map is bad?
Hi ,
It looks like you applied the material without importing a heightmap to directly affect the vertices of your landscape. What steps are you taking to import the heightmap?
Hello ,
i created for my texture alpha channel in photoshop. Then i imported this to unreal and make this for rock layer
Did you plug in a normal map to your normals pin? If what you mean is your texture looks flat when painting, more than likely you need to ensure you have a normal map affecting your landscape. Importing heightmaps is a different process entirely and should be done when first creating the landscape by setting the landscape mode to import from a heightmap.
What is your intended final result? This will help to determine what will be the best suggestion for further development.
Yes, i plug in to normal pin. LERP is plug into normal.
My intended final result is very good effect of normal and height map, because my material is flat.
I’m a bit confused as to the end result you want, but it sounds like you are looking for one of two things:
- If you want the landscape to deform upon importing a heightmap, like those created in World Machine, you will want to do this through the modes>landscape window when you first create the landscape. You can find import information here:
- If, instead you want the landscape to show greater detail while painting the material onto the landscape, which is what it sounds more like you are looking for, you will want to look into world displacement. It is important to note that you will need tessellation for this to work, which can be extremely performance intensive. You can find more information on world displacement here:
Finally, you can, instead of using World Displacement, use World Position Offset:
Try these to see if you get the results you are looking for.
