I’m using HDRIBackdrop for the background + a sun light, without real-time capture in the Skylight (HDRI) and without ray tracing. The objects get a halo effect — what could this be related to? If I don’t use HDRI, the halo doesn’t appear.
Hello there @Bob_Mints!
Considering your screnshoot and setup, I think there’s a conflict between the lighting and the post processing effects in play. That “halo” you are seeing is a contrast difference, the HDRI backdrop is most likely brighter than the foreground. And since you are not using ray tracing, the engine is just relying on screen space to capture light.
So, the first thing to try here, would be to adjust HDRI’s strength. Open your Backdrop, go to the Details panel, and lower the values for both Intensity and Lighting Distance Factor, until the halo is reduced, or dissapears:
If the issue persists, there are other possible factors to consider:
-
In your post process volume, if you are using Lens and/or Ambient Occlusion, reduce the intensity for both, or temporary disable them, to check if they affect the halo
-
Also, if you are using auto exposure, try to set it’s min and max values manually instead
-
Check your foliage, if your leaf material is using Two Sided, test disabling it. Same for Nanite, in case your trees are using it
-
If your scene is using Volumetric Fog, test by temporary disabling it as well
-
In your Project settings, go to Rendering, and change the AA method of your scene to FXAA. If the halo remains, try disabling AA altogether by setting it to None:
