Guided Missile Bug (The fired missile is fired in the direction that the previous piloted missile was going) (Please don't remove the Guided Missile)

Summary

The Guided Missile currently has a bug where the fired missiles will be fired facing the coordinates the previously fired missile was last facing before it was dismissed or destroyed.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Steps to Reproduce

1.) Go to creative inventory and grab the Guided Missile
2.) Shoot the Guided Missile and observe the Missile’s coordinates before it’s destruction
3.) Fire another missile and observe the coordinates it was facing when fired (this should match the previously fired missile’s)
4.) If the coordinates are not the same as the first Missile then shoot another missile and the coordinates the third missile is facing when fired will match those of the second missile’s starting coordinates.

Expected Result

The Missiles that are fired should be fired from in front of the player and face where they were facing when fired.

Observed Result

The fired missile will be facing the coordinates of the previously fired missile and may eliminate the player as a result.

Any platform (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch)

Additional Notes

Please don’t remove the Guided Missile from the creative inventory due to this! we’ve waited too long for it to be added to lose it again!

I noticed this too yesterday when I was playing one of my maps. I was wondering why the Guided Missile is launching in different directions, so now it looks like a general bug. It is very annoying when you are changing positions and targets between fires. I even died few times because of its blast as it changed camera to the opposite direction behind me. Voted.

Just noticed it too. Searched everywhere and not found any info on it until now. Thank you for opening this.

You’re also welcome! (I like to reply so people know I’m active and have read their replies!)

It says more than 5 vitesy is needed for Epic games to actually try to fix it, implying they will leave the bug unfixed indefinitely if not enough people vote. So please vote for this bug report. It’s already at 5 votes with my vote now, but it needs to be more than 5 for Epic to fix it. So all that is needed is one more vote. So anybody here, please vote for it.

Why didn’t you post a video of the bug? The Epic Employees reading this are more likely to believe your claims of the bug if you post visual proof of the bug existing. I know the bug exists myself as I’ve seen it, but I don’t work for Epic, so I have no control over their choosing to fix it or not.

Could someone post a video so I can pass it to the team? Thank you!

Sure hold on!

Cool! Thanks!

Tried (and failed to add a video) so instead I will provide images! (They have titles for explanation):
Missile 1 (First Shot - coordinates seem to be random on the first missile but does NOT face the intended direction in relation to the player’s camera)

Repositioning…

Missile 2 (Second shot follows the co-ordinates of the 1st missile fired):

Repositioning #2:

Missile 3 (third shot when launched follows the co-ordinates of the second missile):

Missile 5 (Missile 5 is fired at different co-ordinates than other missiles for a second demonstration):

Repositioning 4??? Or to show the buggy view when dismissed (?):

Missile 4 (Missile 4 is fired facing the co-ords of Missile 3):

Missile 6 (Locks on to Missile 5’s co-ords):

Disappointment / sadness:

Oh and I’m going to use this reply to also address another bug with the guided missile’s missile being that of the collision box for the missile being far too large, making rocket riding extremely difficult as it will explode when near the door and/or player as well as fitting the missile through windows (which almost never happens now as it simply explodes as its hit box ‘hits’ the windows’ hit box)

For me it always seemed to go to the north east on my map (which is an unpublished Creative map, as I don’t have publishing permission). Other maps from other players that I’ve played in, don’t always have it going to the north east. I actually opened another bug report about that, before I realized this bug had already been reported (but the details of my report were slightly different, because I only reported about the north east direction I had seen on my map). Here’s the video that I had posted in my bug report. I’m posting it here too for Epic Games devs to see, as evidence of the bug (in case it’s actually the same bug)

I see this bug report has gotten over 5 votes so that means the Epic devs will be looking at it, so I posted my video here now to make sure they see the video, as this provides additional evidence of the bug.
