GTX 1070 not using boost clock only in UE4

Using 4.12.4 (upgrading to 4.12.5 as we speak).

Just got my new MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G for use with my HTC Vive.

Plugged it in and it works great - able to increase r.screenpercentage much higher than with my GTX 980.

I went to go do some overclocking, and noticed that in UE4 - in the editor, in a VR game, in a standalone game, and in a fully packaged game - the 1070 isn’t boosting to even its stock boost clock (1772 MHz), it’s staying at the stock 1582 MHz base clock speed.

When I run something like MSI kombustor, it ramps right up to the boost clock speed, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I’m going to try and chalk it up to newly released product and drivers that will mature over time, but I’m hoping someone might know of a setting or something I’m doing in UE4 to force that (though the 980 boosts just fine).

Secondarily, is there a way to force the GPU to stay at the boost clock? NVidia control panel is already set to “Perfer maximum performance.”

Thanks,
Cameron

What are the temperatures during load?

Great question. Not throttled, still under 65c under load. It’s after market cooled, plus I’ve got the side off my rig for testing right now.

Let us know what happens

Figured it was just the newness of the GTX 10 series. Updated NVIDIA drivers today to the latest (368.81) and it fixed the issue. Also fixed an issue with the MSI Gaming App crashing on launch so I couldn’t turn off those damned LEDs (I’m using this in a professional demo and they shine through the vent holes of my ITX case).

TL;DR
Updated GeForce drivers to 368.81.
