I would like to ask how to remove foliage as I am trying to build some cottage in Landscape mode using standart Landscape material. There is grass (foliage) visibile through a wooden floor. And I cant find anything in paint section. However when I use different Landscape material such as MI_FortniteLandscape_Customizable_01 there is a paint named No foliage that fix my problem.
It looks like the current default landscape material (MI_Creative_Landscape_Apollo_Standard) does not have any way to control the foliage like other landscape materials, and since it is a built-in Fortnite assets there’s no way to edit it to add that layer.
I do want to point out one important thing though - although you’ll see grass poking up from your floor while in-editor, there is a system where in-game the grass is culled.
You can fix this issue by manually removing or masking the foliage under your structure. Here’s how you can do it:
Switch to Foliage Mode (press Shift + 4 in Unreal Engine).
In the Foliage tool, deselect all types except the grass or foliage you want to remove.
Hold Shift and left-click (or drag) over the area under your cottage — this will erase foliage instead of painting it.
Alternatively, if your Landscape Material doesn’t have a “No Foliage” layer, you can add one manually in the material by using a mask to prevent foliage spawning in certain areas.
Using the Foliage Erase tool is the quickest fix if you just want to clear the area beneath your building.
In this context grass has not been placed with the Foliage tool - instead I believe it is using the Material-Based Grass system.
The alternative of adding a layer manually is not an option with the default FN landscape material.
I strongly suspect your answer is AI generated. This is a good example of how searching for information on the internet in a post-AI age could yield ‘muddy’ results…
