GPU crashed or D3D Device Removed in Project Browser

Hi,
every time I open UE 5.1.1 and want to create a new Project I get this error:

How Can I fix this? I can´t create new projects.
My Specs:
Windows 10 Pro 22H2
RTX 2060 (Game Ready 521.41)
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
16GB DDR4 3200 mhz RAM

This can be frustrating indeed. There are many things can do this , even switching on a second monitor cause the gpu to reset outputs which appear like a device unplugged.

Suggest you start by removing your device drivers for you gpu using DDU.

Reinstall the latest version and also update or reinstall directx12 (after the gpu drivers)

If that fails repeat but use an older driver.

Its frustrating i know and time consuming. But worth a try.

It’s because you’re running DX12, still haven’t found a fix apart from doing DX11 instead. Just go into deffaultengine.ini and change DefaultGraphicsRHI=DefaultGraphicsRHI_DX12 to DefaultGraphicsRHI=DefaultGraphicsRHI_DX11 for now and it should at least run DX11. Edit: Swapping to studio driver and doing a windows update did the trick. But it still crashes randomly while prepping the shaders.

Changing to DirectX 11 in the project settings worked for me but the difference in the quality of the render is huge. Thanks for the tip.

I wanted to stick with DirectX 12 so continued searching for a fix. Turned on Vitual Textures and this fixed the issue
