I am currently facing issues while working with Google VR. So I have a setup created where users can select a TextBox and input strings from a keyboard. All of this works when I tested it out on the computer, but when I packaged it and run it on my Pixel XL, it completely crashes whenever I select the TextBox! Other interactions done to the 3D widget such as button clicks and ScrollBox works except for this. Any help is much appreciated!
I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.
- Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
- If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
- Could you provide screen shots of any settings/blueprints/widgets that may be involved with this issue?
- Does this issue still occur on the device when not using VR?
Answering the questions u asked:
Yes, I created a blank blueprint project with options Mobile/Tablet, Scalable 3D or 2D and No Starter Content
I created a Blueprint Pawn with the following Components and Events
Then I created a Widget Blueprint with only a TextBox on it and no events were added
Then I created an Actor Blueprint with a widget component referencing to the Widget Blueprint with no events as well
I placed both the Pawn and the Actor BP to the World and run it.
It works when I run it on the computer, but when I package it, Android (ATC), and have it installed on my phone, Google Pixel XL, for Daydream, it crashes when I clicked on the TextBox.
It would run normally if I just interact with other components of my project and only crashes, stops working and not responding to any inputs, when I clicked the TextBox.
As for any settings on the project itself, I followed the steps on how to develop for Google Daydream based on the documentation as provided:
Any help at all on the issue would be very much appreciated
I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have written up a report and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I have provided a link to the public tracker. Please feel free to use the link provided for future updates. Thank you for your time and information.
