Hi guys, i’m working on a cinematics project but idk why I’m getting color banding in low light renders.
My color profile is sRGB/rec709 and i’m exporting in 4k, 60fps, prores 422 HQ.
The banding is more noticeable when I set the OCIO color output in my Movie Render Queue to render in LOG, I’ve set linear sRGB as a source and ACEScg as destination.
There’s no Post Process Volume into my scene and i’m using Lumen, DX11 (i’m forced to use this), and everything is set to cinematic quality.
ofc it’s active. if nobody knows an answer, nobody gonna responds. simple as that. anyway…
what’s the backbuffer format? and what is the output format? maybe you should output exr in 16-bit color depth. so you could crunch it into a 10-bit video codec. color banding in low light situations is kinda normal in 8-bit color depth. there’s a limited number of grey steps you can have. color correction or color space modification may even make it worse. if you stretch the space too much. 1 step of grey could become 2.
maybe just don’t mess with ocio and colorspaces. or find a combo where it is less noticable. maybe try without any correction or conversion. light it natively or better.
