Hey, guys. I’m trying to replicate this effect from the miniseries Chernobyl inside of UE4. Does anyone know how I can make it or at least something similar to it?
The easiest way is probably with a piece of geometry. Just create a smooth cylinder in the shape of the beam. Apply a material with a vertical ramp from 1-0 with additive shading. You can multiply the facing ratio (using the Fresnel node) by the ramp to get the edges to fade off smoothly. Then just multiply that entire setup with a uniform color to get the look you want.
