Hey Everyone ! First time posting with that account, recently I finally finished a scene on UE5 to try and improve my realistic skills using Substance designer & Lumen! It was very challenging and thought I would share it here after all the help I gathered from this forum Hope you like it ! Feel free to ask me any questions!
Insane incredibly realistic love the shapes and the window lighting. What was the modeling process like? Do you have a workflow with curves or math to get the patterns done?
Thank you ! for the ornaments the process was just to make tiling elements in maya & then bend them with some curves in maya
Hi there @Mr-Cailloux,
Hope you’re well and having a great week so far!
What a magical bit of architecture. The stained glass and shapes in the ceiling are just breathtaking. Seeing buildings like this always reminds me of how incredible humans can be when given space to create art. You’ve definitely done it justice
Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of your art!
FromSoft needs to hire you.
Do we call that thing a gloister?
EDIT: I presume that is Nanite + Lumen? Insane that I’ve lived to go from little handheld LCD games to this, realtime stuff.
Thanks ! Yes for Lumen but actually, I’m not using nanite at all on that one since I relied a lot on meshpainting in engine and, even though nanite does support vertex color, it unfortunately doesn’t accept meshpainting (yet… I hope!)
Greetings @Mr-Cailloux !
This is hauntingly a tour de force of wonderment! There is nothing here that is boring to stare at in utter awe! You’ve captured such an essence here! The fact that these old structures have stood the test of time is quite an amazing feat. This structure in particular has been around since the 14th century!
I hadn’t realized that parts of Hogwarts was an actual place. I’ve never been to England, but I was inside the exterior replica of Hogwarts at a Universal Studios theme park. It’s a wonder how people once lived and studied in such grandeur and in such expertly crafted spaces.
This looks almost like a real-time 3D photo scan! The gloriously stained glass windows look heavenly in your work! Was it a challenge getting the ratios and angles so precise throughout?
Thank you very much ! Yes actually the ornaments themselves were a bit challenging, a lot of back & forth between my references & the basemeshes, but thankfully it’s a lot of symetrized assets all over so I didn’t take me as much time as the texturing itself
