Fuzzy foliage at distance - voxelize shape preservation

Hi. I have this fuzzy type look for my vegetation at near-far distance. The material uses simple animation wind with green vertex color.

Ive tried no mip maps, and its only on that 1 type of grass. The other one is made with earlier versions of engine, and its not so visible at this middle distance. no idea why.

(give it a moment for youtube to process the video for compression, ive just uploaded it)

if you care to take a look, any help would be appreciated :slight_smile:

I’m not sure what issues am I suppose to see here. Besides the darkening. Do you have examples from a film or photo where grass from such a long distance is sharper ?

@Sebastian

Sorry, i thought it was captured on video enough. Here is screenshot of what i mean by fuzzy foliage at distance.

As you can see on left, and you can track that on video, the further the grass from the camera, the more fuzzy/floaty it becomes. I have no idea why. Its only the issue with grass. Trees are fine so far.

It literally looks like giant noisy wave going through grass. Really ruins the image.

I suspect its something to do with SimpleGrassWind node in material editor. Maybe voxelize shape preservation is only meant for dynamic wind?

actually nevermind, Ive resetted the Xform, in 3d max. And now its fixed. It was driving me crazy for couple of days. :smiley:

If you’re using nanite foliage with voxelization, do not use WPO animations for wind because it’s not compatible with it and will just create really bad smearing and blurs. You can test it by cranking the WPO up a lot to see.
