I’m wondering if its possible to create a material that still casts a shadow even though the opacity is set to 0?
I’m trying to have an invisible skeletal mesh cast dynamic shadows. IE I want the shadows to be visible but not the mesh itself.

There is a much simpler way to go about this than having a transparent material.
In your BP for your Skeletal Mesh, or if this is just a skeletal mesh in your scene you will need to go into the details panel and enable two check boxes.
- Under Rendering Tab > Check Hidden in Game
- Under Lighting Tab > Check Cast Hidden Shadow
This will be the final result with a rendered hidden skeletal mesh with a dynamic shadow:
