But as the meshes are already on the lowest tri amount that is possible, you will have to use one of the performance saving techniques mentioned in my previous post.

Hey, sorry for being impatient, but when do you think you can get those pine trees released? I require them for my project and I am excited to see the trees turn out!

Unfortunately I dont know a release date for them, but in the following week I will go into the forest to take some pine textures (currently finishing the ā€œspring flowersā€) :slight_smile:

After testing with a couple other PCs with almost same setup as mine (or better) and getting the same low fps result I gather you are probably riding more than a beast for having 80 fps there. :wink:

Hmm, will test it on my laptop to see what I can improve :slight_smile:

My specs:

  • GeForce GTX 660 Ti
  • Intel(R) Coreā„¢ i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • Windows 7

That GTS 450 will probably not handle much foliage, no matter how simple it is. (Though it might manage if you arenā€™t going for big fields?).
The card is not much different performance wise to high end cards from 7 or so years ago.

Something like half a HD 7850/GTX 660 (not ti) or possibly worse =

Making sure the foliage is not casting shadows or contributing to DFAO would certainly help (if itā€™s not already set to that, I canā€™t check at the moment).

I also upload the pack to my GoogleDrive. I didnā€™t change nothing into the package except that Iā€™ve recompress it in ZIP and rename the pack because itā€™s easier for me to classify my UE4 stuff on GoogleDrive. Here is the link.

@, Now Iā€™m completely confused why we are getting ~20 fps with 4790k CPUs here. The only thing being the graphic card is almost half of yours but Iā€™m not sure thatā€™s the case because itā€™s only a small are of grass. I got more FPS in Crysis 3. Going to get a 960 to see what happens. :slight_smile:

@Xerithas, Might be the foliage in UE4 relies more on GPU than CPU? :slight_smile:

Absolutely relies on GPU over CPU.

You have a much better CPU then I do and the same amount of RAM, but I get 2-3x the FPS in the grass pack.
At the same time your fps would probably be much better then mine in CPU dependent games like WoW.

Generally speaking ā€˜prettyā€™ games are more GPU dependent (See assassins creed unity and witcher 3).

GTX 960 will be a pretty huge improvement.
Personally Iā€™d say to get/save for a 970 (depending on the relative cost wherever youā€™re living), but regardless either will be a big boost to games and UE4 =]

Make sure that you use the right material -> the ā€œproā€ material instance constant :slight_smile:
