Hello everyone! It’s been a while - I’ve been ever so busy with Super Distro and Book #2 I haven’t had much time to update Forum thread! But I’ve got some news for you all:

I’m working on yet another book series, Separate to the the Art of Unreal Engine 4 series. The alternative FREE book series I’m writing is aimed at people who aren’t too comfortable in game development and have a great idea but have no idea about the execution. is the book for them! Aimed at Children, Adults and Elders alike, book will teach you everything from planning your game all the way to marketing the final “Product!”.

Ok, I don’t know how I missed seeing thread until a few minutes ago, but it couldn’t have come at a better time as I need to boost my Blueprint skills!!!

is why I love UE4 so much, the community there is , it’s almost like we’re all on the same team doing what we can to make it better and more helpful. Since I switched to UE4 from CE3, I have been amazed with the community , I LOVE IT!

I have just started reading your first book, and have already gotten some great ideas. Thank you so much for writing these books!!!

I just wanted to post to thank-you all for your support and feedback; it really is super awesome to read them all and to know you’ve all had good fun reading the Blueprints books!

In regards to updates, Book #2 is coming along but has been slightly delayed while I work on getting Super Distro out of the door! After that, it shouldn’t be too long before Book #2 is in your hands (And as always, for no cost!)

What I did want to say is that I can’t thank-you all enough for you support for “So You Want To Make a Video-Game?” - It’s so awesome to see the community coming together and helping make the “Free Game Development book for Children, Adults and Elders” everywhere a reality!

At the moment, ***the funding stands at a proud 62% of the way completed… IN UNDER TWO DAYS! ***That’s freakin’ Epic! Well done everyone; It’s really nice to see people supporting the initiative to get free book out to every man, woman and child possible!

We’re not quite at 100%, and we need all the help we can get getting there! If you have a moment to check out the campaign; It really helps and what helps even more is sharing it with family / friends / pets! I’m seriously so amazed and humbled to see the community supporting the project!

I’m the Project Lead at Studios, who are currently working on Super Distro in UE4 for PC, Mac and Linux.

We’re also using Unity, but for the Wii U version of Super Distro, as we’ve been given the privledge of being “Nintendo Developers” from Nintendo.

While working on both these projects, I noticed how much I’ve learned to depend on Blueprints. So much so, that I prefer it to standard coding a million times over.

I’ve been a proud user of Unreal Engine 4 since Launch and with every new update, I become even prouder to call Unreal Engine 4 my engine of choice.

As I’m also working in Unity, I noticed a lot of people on the Unity and out-and-about on the Internet could be benefitting from Unreal Engine 4 in their projects.

It’s just a simple fact. I’m not trying to start a fanboy war between different engine users (As I previously stated, I’m working with both Unreal Engine 4 and Unity), but there are a number of projects in Unity which could utlize the features of Unreal Engine 4 and become even better then they currently are.

I have noticed however, the reason a lot of these games are not built with Unreal Engine 4 is because the designers / programmers are turned off of Unreal Engine 4 because of the fact they believe they HAVE to learn C++ and the fact that the Blueprints system seems so confusing (When it’s really not) and they are scared to try a new engine as it looks complicated at first.

Realising , It inspired me to work on a book, easing not only Unity developers, but anybody whose wanted to try Game Development into Unreal Engine 4 and Blueprints. But I didn’t just create the book for them, I also created it for each and every user of Unreal Engine 4 who wants a better understanding on the Blueprints system and for the people who want to code a whole game from Blueprints but just can’t figure out how.

The aim of the book is to subliminally teach you the Blueprints system, so by the end of the book you can feel confident enough to try your own tasks within Unreal Engine 4 and create your own projects.

The book is written in a very simply to read laid back way, as I wanted to keep away from boring people with very long passages of text (Like friggin’ post, haha). So I included lots of pictures and simple explanations (I like pictures) to help you get your head around the Blueprints system without being confusing or frustrating.

I was approached by Packt about going with them to sell the book and that also got me thinking. Why the heck would I charge for the book? I left my job to develop Super Distro (Which I’m still developing at the moment) and working on book was completely my own choice. I lost a few weeks worth of developing for Super Distro to make book a reality but I didn’t do it for money. I did it for the love of Unreal Engine and game development.

So I thought to myself, “Hey, Why don’t I just release book for free?” and that’s what I’ve done. The book is £0 / $0 / *Insert Currency Symbol * 0. If you want a physical version of the book, that will only cost as much as it takes to print the book and I won’t be taking profit from it. Why? Because I want to contribute all of my know-how to the community to help others achieve great things with Unreal Engine 4.

First let me start off by saying thank you very much for the hard work you put into amazing book. I wanted to ask after book #2 and #3 comes out, will you end up combining the books together? I for one would love to buy a hard copy if that ends up being the case. Once again thank you very very much!

I have just found it. It`s really great book. Thx. I aggree with GEM i would buy hard copy too. I am more into C++ programming. But is really great start to blueprints.

I’ve been ever so busy working on Super Distro, Book #2 and also

In Regards to the question of all the books being combined into one, that will indeed be possible as soon as the books are completed! Once the series is done, I’ll add them all together and make that available to you all!

In terms of a release date for Book #2, I’m inclined to only say “Soon” as I’ve got a lot of work on my plate (Making Super Distro, the “So You Want To Make Video-Games?” book as well as Book #2 and beyond. It should be out at some point within the next month or so, but I can’t make any promises.

I’d also like to say that I’m going away for the next three days, it’s my 21st Birthday on the 26th*** and so I’m going on Holiday with my other half - If anyone has any questions about the books or anything else, drop a comment or email me: contact@.co.uk - I’ll answer as soon as I can !
