I’m following the second tutorial but I have an at page 113. When I’m playing the game to test the blueprint that change the character color, UE4 gave me the error “Accessed None ‘Mesh’ from node Set CharacterMat in blueprint MyCharacter”. I tried to find the error by myself but I was unable to fix it.
Can you screenshot your MyCharacter blueprint so I can take a quick look?
Extra news:
Only 4 days left on the FREE Game Dev book I’ve also been working on which not only helps with Unreal Engine 4 but will also help with design, production, post production and beyond! Once the campaign is over; Both Book #2 of the Blueprints series and the Game Dev book will be heavily underway Thanks for the support, birthday messages and patience everyone!
Only had to scan through Book 1 but it looks fantastic and I’ll certainly work through the examples. Lots in there that will help me with my own project Keep it up!
Since you are doing to dive into AI is it possible you could also show a bit of how to do a get and set of of a rotation of a skeletal bone?
I would like to do a procedural tracking system that I would like to plug into a few skeletal models and I can pull it off using static mesh but I would rather use skeletal.
Hi everyone!
Sorry for the little news - I’ve had no internet as I’ve been moving home.
I’m totally stoked about the IndieGoGo - Thanks to everyone who contributed and shared around! It wouldn’t have been possible without all of your help so thank-you very much!
Book #2 is on the way; Progress has been slow as I’ve been working on Super Distro and “So You Want To Make Video-Games?” but we’re getting closer and closer to launch!
I’m also working with Packt to bring some more Unreal books to the table, so no matter where you look you’ll have the information you need to achieve the game of your dreams with Unreal Engine 4.
Again, Thank-you everyone for your support, it’s been so awesome to have you all behind the project and behind me - You all rock!
Hopefully, Book #2 and #3 will be on your computers soon but until then - Stay awesome everyone!
Just a quick note to everyone that Blueprints book #2 is almost !
Sadly it’s not AI & Multiplayer (Still working hard on that) but one features lots of mini-projects such as making a Title Screen / Saving and Loading / Paper2D and cool little things like that.
When I say almost , we could be looking at the end of the week.
Thanks for all the support everyone, it’s hard writing four books (Literally!) at once but it’s great fun doing so!
I’m having the same problem as Julie. My “Create Dynamic Material Instance” is quite different from the one you show, and doesn’t accept the “Mesh” variable (I’m on version 4.4.3 of the Unreal Editor if that helps).
Apart from that little problem I really really appreciate the effort you have made in writing these books. I really like your writing style. It is extremely helpful to noobs like myself. =/
