I am getting a major decrease in frame rate in every single project in 4.16 and higher. Even worse in 4.18. It does not matter the project it happens in every one. In my current project my frame rate was around 60-70 in version 4.15. In 4.16 and 4.17 it drops to around 40 and in 4.18 down to around 35. I’ve created several new projects from many of the samples provided by Unreal and I am seeing similar drops in frame rate in versions 4.16 and higher. For example, the Blueprints project under the learn tab on the launcher, in 4.15 my frame rate is between 110 and 120. In 4.16 and 4.17 it is only around 85 to 95.
Is anyone else seeing drops like this in 4.16 and higher? Does anyone know what is causing it?
More Features, Different Defaults etc. can´t give you a direct Answer for that but thats why you got a lot of Profiling tools inside the Engine to Answer that sort of Questions. Here some Links:
At first I can tell you this: one thing that I have saw happens with quite frequence, on VR projects, the SlateUI getting some major time on rendering, mostly related to Stereo Rendering. The staff seems to know about this problem and seems they are really working on it, so if that your case, maybe it should be good to tell them about the problem and send some info about the project.
Please don´t ask us to explain what each thing does (its to much to cover). The ressources above explain it if you are really interessted in that stuff. If you Understand them you will know what to adjust
I did a lot of stuff, uninstalled, re-installed, messed with a million different settings. I am not sure if it was the re-installation of programs or something else that fixed it but it is finally fixed. Thank you guys for the suggestions. They may not of helped for this particular issue but it definitely will help with optimizing future projects. Thanks again.
