Just wanted to share my experience so far trying to use Path Tracer on my Mac, hopefully it will help others. There's a program called 'Shadow' which is basically a PC in the cloud. You can download your version of Twinmotion onto the cloud PC and so far it has worked really well for me. You can use the Path Tracer function as well. The specs meet the requirements for path tracing and I have had good performance speed too as far as rendering time. The only drawback is it costs $45 a month to use. But if you use a Mac it's a decent work around until UE makes a compatible Mac version.
hey there, thanks for sharing this workaround. could you maybe do a screen recording showing you working on a project, with the stats panel turned on so we can see how the performance is? you can use dropbox capture to easily record and share screen recordings.
also, can you immediately find a pc to log in to, or do you have to 'wait in line' before you can connect to the service? 45 a month is not bad compared to iRender's prices, but shadow doesn't offer any trials so it's difficult to compare quality.
Hi Emre I'm not doing a screen recording but here is a screen grab for you to show you the stats when it was rendering.
Here is another
Yeah I had the same hesitation because they don't offer trials, thankfully it worked out. So far I have never had to wait to use the PC and the performance has been really fast. The only one time it lagged I think was my fault because I was streaming Netflix in the other room. They tell you when you log on for optimal performance to log out of anything else, streaming, etc. Also to plug in using an ethernet cable for faster speed and I am using wi-fi atm because it has worked well enough that way. Basically if you have a fast connection you should be fine. I would advise it as a work around for now it's been working great and the difference in the renderings (especially interior) is remarkable. I haven't used it away from home yet but the fact that I can is also a big plus. Hope that helps.
