phantom: I donā€™t think it will make much of a difference. Since all our meshes have LODs and use only a single material and texture set.
And since all textures are 4k, merging any of them would mean you lose quality. For example: all the plants are on one texture sheet already.

frequia: Sure, like I wrote in the release thread. you guys get all the new material, texture and lighting tweaks rolled back into the conifer forest pack.
As well as the new small stone / twigs meshes and ground material with wetness control.
And of course if you buy the broadleaf pack you will also get the winter extension for free.

Awezome :slight_smile: Sometimes Im having trouble seeing if its real-life or a UE4 shot. For users that dont buy the packs from the marketplace, how will we be able to download the updates? Will there be a permament link on your website?

we will send out private download links via email for you guys once itā€™s all up on the server.
I expect that to be some time tomorrow morning. Heavy upload of about 10GB for all the new packs and updates. :slight_smile:

Since you bought it from our website you will get updates a lot faster then the guys who buy it on the marketplace.
Epic takes itā€™s sweet time with submissions and content updates.

I finally got my hands on the conifer forest pack, and it is absolutely fantastic. It looks even better than the screenshots Willi posted, especially on a 5k monitor. As for the performance, I achieved a stable 20fps at 4k resolution on an iMac (8gb ram, AMD Radeon R9 M380). Just in case anybody is wondering, I got about the same performance with this pack as I did with Landscape Auto Material. I even get great performance on my laptop (8gb ram, GTX 960M).

Willi, I canā€™t wait to purchase your future packs, and I highly recommend that everybody buys this. Well worth the price.

just FYI, we pushed the release date for the new packs to next week.
We discovered a problem with the lightmap UVs on the trees which we need to fix first.

Yeah, was going to post something about the lightmap UV problem, but seems youā€™ve also discovered it. :slight_smile:

Yes very annoying too ā€¦ since the UVs a perfectly fine in 3dsmax but once imported into UE4 it complains about overlap.
And the debug lighting doesnā€™t give a hint eitherā€¦ would be nice of Epic to add something into the staticmesh editors to see UV overlaps directly.

It only happens to the SM trees, also the new once from pack 2, the blueprint trees are all fine.
A bit of poking in the dark right nowā€¦

Thanks for the offer but we got it all fixed now.

Was a few little leaf patches that where sharing the same UV space but where welded.
So UE4 couldnā€™t generate working lightmap UVs from it.
We now imported them manually, works fine now.

Now recompiling the example maps tonight / tomorrow and getting all ready for mondays release.

Btw, I have been wondering about this for quite a long while now. Is there something that we can do about the spots where the tree branches and the tree trunks join? Currently, the tree branches look artificially pushed inside the tree trunks, which is probably unavoidable since you are using blueprints to build the trees. But is there something that we can do in our ā€œfinalā€ development steps to make the bark transition fluently from the tree branches into the tree trunks?
