Preview of the new oak branch asset. We reduced the amount of triangles by 50%.
Also we created entirely new leaf textures, wasn’t to happy with the old. A more natural and organic flow in the branch and leaves.
This looks really good
Forwarding it to a few buddies who will probably purchase it
One question though, unless I am missing it… I dont see a roughness texture?
really? and you get accurate pbr-esque results? care to share? might be quite a memory-booster
Also, thanks! but my caves pale in significance to this package.
Little update, we rolled some of the winter extensions functions into the normal ground material.
You can now control the wetness of it. Create little puddles or make the ground muddy.
Here is a quick clip of it in action:
We also did excessive work on our PBR pipeline and reworked all textures and materials.
All these changes will be rolled back into Forest Pack 1 when we release FP2.
Luos, maybe not fully accurate but looks good enough and safes us a bunch of textures
The broadleaf pack will go for the same price the conifer pack already did, 89.99 EUR.
Forest collection pack will be 179.99 EUR including the winter ext for free.
The winter extension individually will go for 9.99 EUR.
For the smaller asset packs I haven’t decide on the price yet. Somewhere around 20 EUR.
super excited about release !!! cant wait for it …
will the third forest pack (redwood if i remember right) also become part of the forest pack when it will be released ?
only thing i dont understand is why there is no discount except the free winter pack if you buy both forests together. its 1 cent more, even
but that is only my diabolic will to save money.
the pack looks like fully worth the money !!!
one more question. does the plants, trees react individually on the ue4 wind system ? say rising the ue4 wind the plants will shake more.
or is wind drivven by material ?
the redwood forest will be a separate pack. They involve a lot more work and
we’re planning to include some nice far landscape mountains and stuff.
But more details about it will come clearer when we start on in a few weeks.
I think the winter pack is a nice discount
You know the price is already quite low for the quality you get.
There is a lot of knowledge and work that goes into creating these packs.
Making them even cheap would mean it’s not worth for us doing them at all.
About wind, not right now. Since these are not speedtrees it’s a bit more complicated to hook them up.
I guess you could write something in blueprint that reads the wind direction, intensity and speed,
feed that into a material parameter collection and use these values to drive the ones inside our materials.
Maybe something we will investigate more when we have some spare time and add it with a later update if it performs well.
Or Epic finally adds the wind actor into the materials functions!?
But we have all those material wind values exposed so you can tweak them via the material instances.
