So this isn’t included? Also, could you add an aerial shot of the scene, so I can get a sense of how big the test forest is? How is the performance?
Yeah if you could specify what’s included and what’s not that’d be great.
That’s one of the broadleaf trees, that will be included with the other pack.
There should be two screenshots of asset overviews in my preview post.
Here is an areal screenshot of the example map, area: 200x400 meters.
Performance is still a solid 60+ fps at 1080p inside the forest, outside 90+ fps.
Even in VR performance is acceptable if running at 120% screen res
We made tests with 2 x 2 km and 3000 trees, which still runs at 60 fps.

If I remember correctly, you said something about “modular trees” at one of your earliest posts. What does that mean?
Hey rYuxq,
The trees are blueprints, you can build your own tree variations with them.
They are made up of the different base trunks and sets of branches and details.
We also added a function to randomize the scale and rotation of the trees.

Will you post a new thread showcasing the pack with all its features and assets? I am very eager to see more
Sure,
I’ll open up a release thread with all the details soon.
Here are screens of the materials that come with the pack, all highly tweak able:
General Material:
Ground Material:
Foliage Material:

I cannot wait to buy and try it with VXGI
Hi
It didn’t come up on your website yet. When would you make it available?
Is that with Early-Z pass on masked+opaque ON? If not, you could gain a lot from that.
Also the shadows are nice, but unrealistically sharp, on the ground from very far away tree brunches etc… If you just make them less quality it should still look realistic and fps goes up.
Also the models could be ramped down in polygons. At least for the trees, where the textures make all the nice looks, that would be fine.
The scene surely looks like you could optimize without loosing appearance and then you get it to lower hardware with 60fps, or you can add more things to the scene.
Hi everyone,
The first forest pack is now available!

Sorry for the delay, but we had to fix some last minute server issues.
We are very pleased with how it turned out.
I hope you have as much fun using the pack as much we had creating it.
Here some final screens, Enjoy!

Hi Willi,
These are looking cool!
One thing about your first pack is that all textures have a strong brown tint to them that I have to manually neutralize them. What has caused that? can you please take care of that when creating this second pack?
Cheers
Do you have an ETA?
I plan to have it all done in about two weeks.
Most time will be spend on new branches and leafs.
I wasn’t happy with those in the previews WIP screens of the broadleaf trees.
Ground textures and plants I hope we get done this week.

Pretty nice.
But I noticed that the leaves on the second tree from the left (in the foreground) do look paper-like. That reminds me of a video tutorial (which I can not seem to find anymore) for UE trees, where the creator bent the leaves (I think it was through the material) and he used a pretty neat approach for that.
The result was awesome, the trees looked volumetric! and it was pretty cheap on the performance as well if I remember right
Yeah the leafs and branches are still the old ones, on the list to redo them.
I guess you could use bump-offset to fake some depth, that’s pretty cheap.

Bookmarking your website. Next commercial job that require a forest I’m buying this. Best trees I’ve seen so far.
