Summary
As of today, the z offset in the foliage tool seems to be reversed. A negative offset will make foliage float in the air. I also tried a high positive offset value, that does not push the foliage into the ground as might be expected.
In the attached image the default cube pile to the left was painted with no z offset, the middle one with a minus 50 offset, and the one to the right with a -300 z offset.
The cube mesh has zero transforms ( baked transforms ).
However, this bug is not affecting all my foliage meshes, I have 2 stone assets, and a much bigger tree. The tree behaves as usual with the offset, but the 2 stones, which worked just fine yesterday, now float in the air with negative offset when I paint new ones.
To be sure I created a default landscape with a default cube as seen in the attached image.

Steps to Reproduce
- Create a landscape
- Create foliage from a default cube mesh in the modeling section.
- Load as foliage
- Paint with a negative z offset value
- The higher the negative offset, the higher the foliage is pushed upwards. Reversely, positive values will not push it downwards.
Expected Result
- The expected result is that a high negative z offset value should push the foliage downwards.
Observed Result
- The higher the negative offset, the higher the foliage is pushed upwards. Reversely, positive values will not push it downwards.
