Foliage instances flickering black after v40.00 update

Summary

Since a recent update to Fortnite, all my foliage elements (especially rocks) exhibit a significant black flicker in the viewport and in-game. This issue is specific to elements placed in Foliage mode.

Steps to Reproduce

Open UEFN on PC.

Select the Foliage tool.

Add a custom Static Mesh to the foliage palette.

Paint the rocks onto the landscape.

Observe the rocks in the viewport or launch a game session.

Expected Result

The rocks placed with the Foliage tool should render correctly and smoothly, exactly like a single Static Mesh placed manually in the scene.

Observed Result

The foliage instances violently flicker and flash black. Important note: The exact same Static Mesh renders perfectly without any bugs when placed individually; the black flickering ONLY occurs when it is painted as Instanced Foliage.

Additional Notes

I’m absolutely certain this bug appeared after an update because the display was perfect before and I haven’t touched anything since. Could you please take a look at it please ?

Hi, I understand you were unable to reproduce the issue, but I believe this may be because the bug only occurs with custom realistic imported Static Meshes , not with native Fortnite assets. Could you please try to reproduce it by importing any custom Static Mesh into UEFN, adding it to the Foliage tool palette, and painting it onto the landscape? The bug should be immediately visible. My island code 8445-7448-0769 also has the bug directly visible in-game if that helps. Could you please reopen the ticket and investigate further? Thank you.
