Focus 3 and Pico 4 not working with standard VR Template in 5.6+

Hey,

Currently we are stuck on 5.3 due to the Focus 3 Plugin not supporting more newer versions.

But as it is Openxr, it should work regardless with never engine versions. It does work with latest Godot and Unity versions and there is no need for an plugin or extension by using the OpenXR / Khronos loader.

I saw that in 5.6 and 5.7, there is the “Android (OPENXR)” Packaging option, so I assumed that this would work on Focus 3 and Pico 4 without Plugins.
It does work on Meta without the Meta Plugin activated, but for the others it does not.

The error in the HMD is that it does not load the VR views, it only starts a 2D window but fails to load a game in there. Usually it would display an immersive/VR view and then load the game.

Is there something wrong with my setup, or is this still not supported?

To reproduce:

  1. Install 5.6 or 5.7
  2. Download the VR Template from the Launcher
  3. Setup Android (see Set Up Android SDK, NDK, and Android Studio using Turnkey for Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.6 Documentation | Epic Developer Community , but for me only android-29 works for sdk and ndk).
  4. Package for Android (OpenXR)
  5. Start and see error as explained above

Would be nice to get some insight into this!
