When rendering a scene with high polycounts the videos flicker a lot. I know it's not z-fighting because even leafs flicker. It happens with both outdoor and indoor renders.
Is there a way to solve this other than reducing the polycount of the scene?
Would you be able to share an example video or the Twinmotion scene that you noticed this happening on? Being able to see the effect can help me determine what might be causing it and how to resolve it.
Hi, this is just an example but it happens in other situations as well.
This video is an outdoors building with artificial light on top of the natural light. But it also happens in outdoors with natural light only and indoors 100% of the time.
It doesn't happen just with imported geometry but also with library trees too.
Outdoor renders with low poly counts seem to not have this issue.
It looks like that video was rendered with Path Tracer. That flickering effect is a side effect of the denoiser that Path Tracer uses to remove the noise that is generated during a Path Tracer render. The denoiser will try its best to remove noise, but in videos, it will often leave artifacts like that flickering.
Our upcoming update to 2023.1 Preview 2 will include improvements to the video denoiser that should reduce this effect with Path Tracer renders.
There are also third-party tools, such as Neat Denoiser, Davinci Resolve's denoiser tool, and Adobe Premiere's denoiser tool that provide very good results. If you export your video with the denoiser disabled, you can use one of these third party denoisers to clean up the resulting video, usually eliminating these artifacts.
