Summary
I am currently making a first person horror map and wanted to use the flashlight item. But when i equip it my fps drop from around 140 to around 40. I tried using a custom verse flashlight and it didnt cause this problem. So it probably has to do with the flashlight model.

Hello Kaktus Katze,
Not being able to reproduce this in a new map will greatly decrease your odds of a bug creation and solution.
To troubleshoot I’d start with disabling ‘Cast Shadow’ on objects. (It looks like you’re using imported assets, maybe one of those is misconfigured for shadow casting in some way)
Another route would be to see if the flashlight makes a difference in FPS for you in a new/blank map, then add elements from the poor performance map to help narrow down what might be causing the issue.
Yeah but the problem is that even while the flashlight is turned off i have massive framedrops as seen in the video. So it cannot be the shadows then right? And my custom verse flashlight works fine without framedrops. I just wanted to use the Fortnite one because you can see the model in first person
Ah, that’s true. Just equipping the flashlight looks to be causing a big frame drop. My mistake. In that case I think it would be safe to focus less on shadow casting.
But still, It’s important to try and narrow down the cause. In your blank map you could also try importing the Hallway lights and Time of Day setup (Noting features like fog). Post-Processing comes to mind as well. Also see if there is a difference without being in First-Person mode.
Found the issue! Although it doesnt make sense to me. So i had a small prop, like a door handle. And i guess it was not optimized well. But it still doesnt really make sense to me why it only caused frame drops in first person mode (tested it) and only while holding the flashlight. Other lights had no effect on it. Still its fixed now! So thank you
