[FEEDBACK] the current copy-pasting behaviour is unworkable

The behaviour of copy pasting is completely different from the industry standard.

  • If you copy a folder, it will only copy the folder itself and none of the children
  • If you paste, you can’t paste inside of other folders
  • If you copy-paste between projects, you might get half the objects, if you’re lucky, even if you migrated the necessary assets

This is significantly slowing down my development speed, as I have to constantly re-setup objects between projects, move elements manually, and search for duplicated objects that get moved in random places in the outliner.

@Orodex Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.

Hi Orodex,

Good feedback, about copy and pasting between projects, I saw the same thing.

If you copy and then paste into a text editor, you’ll see the syntax of how the copied info is stored.

I noticed that the project name was associated with many of the items. (Which could explain why it has problems being pasted between projects)

I had better luck migrating the map file.

Another quite weird thing is that folders just seem to behave as their own object with no affiliation to their children. If I select a folder and hit Delete, it will delete the folder, but none of the contents inside of the folder, which is quite weird, considering the behaviour expectations set by most other programs, including windows itself.
