So one thing I realized that UE4 does not have which would be really useful is node link highlighting in the material editor. In World Machine for example, when you hover over the connection point of a node, it highlights the link “thread” in yellow so you can more easily follow the connection to its corresponding node. Currently this doesn’t exist in Rocket so its really hard to figure out what nodes are connected when there’s a jumble of links crossing each other.
Im not sure if its a good idea to use colours, bear with me though, I think colours should be used in a similar manner to blueprint. I do however agree that some kind of highlighting for hovering over wires could be useful, not only in the material editor but also in blueprint.
Blueprint already does this. I just tried it in the material editor and was surprised it didn’t do this too!
Yes me too. But it’s probably on to do list already. I think I have read somwhere on UDN that they are working, so every editor in engine will have similiar behavior.
Oh it does too Im just too impaitent to wait for it, could be alittle faster.
Oh, you’re right it does already do this in blueprints. Definitely need it in the material editor then!
Hey Peter,
Thanks for your suggestion! Wires between connection points will highlight when you hover over the connection points within Blueprints as well as the Material Editor in an future release of the editor. Hope that helps!
Best,
